John Adams is an expert data scientist with over 10 years of experience leveraging machine learning, advanced analytics and data visualization to help healthcare providers implement effective population health strategies.
As Director, Data Science at Gray Matter Analytics, Mr. Adams leads the development of analytic experiments and machine learning algorithms at Gray Matter Analytics. He collaborates with product development and engineering to translate customer needs into analytic solutions.
Prior to Gray Matter Analytics, Mr. Adams created and implemented a risk segmentation engine to guide clinicians in targeting individuals for health interventions across 14 state Medicaid markets, developed machine learning algorithms to enable an application to understand medical texts and patient interviews, providing likely diagnoses, assessing acuity and recommending dispositions and established sophisticated ad-hoc reporting infrastructure to derive actionable insights for external clients using large amounts of data. He previously worked at the American Hospital Association, Centene Corporation and Baylor Health System.
Mr. Adams has an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of North Texas Health Science Center and a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin.
